Sain Prem Das Sahib Ji was initially named Bhai Heera Ram and from the beginning, he could not see with his eyes.
His father’s name was Bhai Moola Ram, and he was born in the village of Manjhi Chachar, Taluka Ghotki, District Sukkur.
Despite being blind from birth, Sain Prem Das Sahib Ji renounced worldly work and devoted himself to serving Gau Mata (the sacred cows) in the town, giving them water and care.
Once, during the festival of Chetri Chand, Sain Gareeb Das Sahib Ji came to Manjhi Chachar to meet Bhai Amro Ram. There, he witnessed the devotion, humility, and love of the young Bhai Heera Ram. Impressed, he took permission from Bhai Heera Ram’s parents and brought him to Ghouspur Darbar Sahib.
At Ghouspur Darbar, seeing Bhai Heera Ram’s immense devotion and love, Sain Ji was pleased and gave him the sacred name Bhai Prem. One night, reflecting on the transient nature of the world and the impermanence of the body, Baba Ji saw the devotion of Bhai Prem and the entire gathering. He blessed Bhai Prem Das as his divine form, laid his hand upon him, and with compassionate gaze entrusted the entire congregation to him. He declared that any devotee who wishes to serve sincerely will receive the fulfillment of their desires.
In this way, Baba Ji himself, through disciplined yoga and spiritual practice, merged the light of the formless Divine into his being and attained the eternal abode of Amrapad.
Even without sight, Sain Prem Das Sahib Ji continued to serve diligently, providing water to the sacred pots with utmost devotion.
